Career highlight: Gold medalist – European Boxing Championships Minsk 2013
Armen Zakaryan has the potential to cause all sorts of difficulties for the light welterweights of the APB. The Russian prefers to box on the outside but can cut off the distance between him and an opponent in just a couple of swayed steps, landing his punches before slipping back out of range and away from danger.
The 2012 Russian National Champion looks to control his opponents with the use of his jab and has a wondrous fluidity of movement and lightning reactions.
This style took him all the way to a gold medal in the 2013 European Boxing Championships in Minsk, Belarus, the stand out achievement on his impressive resume.
The southpaw stylist also gained invaluable experience in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) where he won both his fights boxing for his native Russian Boxing Team and became acclimatised to a format of boxing similar to that of the APB.
Zakaryan also has the knack of finding a way to win no matter how tough the opponent or bout, something which could well be called upon if he is to succeed in a spectacular weight category.
