Career highlight: Gold medalist – AIBA World Boxing Championships Milan 2009

It is probably no wonder Domenico Valentino is a policeman away from the ring due to his arresting style inside it which has seen the former Italia Thunder fighter pick up a string of international medals in an already glittering boxing career.

Renowned worldwide as a fearsome competitor who possesses an unbreakable will to win, tons of heart and a wondrous skill set, it is no accident that the experienced boxer-puncher has commanded such respect from fans and peers alike for so long. It is a result of consistent classy and gutsy performances at the highest level.

Amongst his achievements, Valentino holds the outstanding feat of having medalled at every AIBA World Boxing Championships since 2005, beginning when he won a bronze in Mianyang, China. He went one better two years later in Chicago, winning silver before being crowned world champion in his home country at Milan 2009. He followed that up with two more bronze medals in 2011 and 2013 at Baku and Almaty respectively.

Valentino’s striking successes do not stop there. He has also claimed three gold medals in the European Union Boxing Championships, two gold medals in the Mediterranean Games and a silver and a bronze medal at the European Boxing Championships.

Hailing from the same small village in Campania, Italy as fellow APB heavyweight Clemente Russo, Valentino is looking to be in nothing short of premium condition to fight in the APB.

“It will be full of emotion and passion as always, for sure. My personal goal is to improve my skills further in order to be 100 % ready for the APB. First of all I am looking forward to getting the satisfaction of boxing in APB and I’m hoping to qualify through the tournament for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games,” said the always charismatic Valentino.

With the perfect balance of experience and skill and a scintillating record of success, the hard-hitting, passionate and fiery Italian brings that special thrill to the ring in APB.
