Career highlight: Silver medalist – Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
Pressure fighter Djelkhir is an exciting livewire who rarely fails to make his bouts anything less than electrifying. A furious force of French fighting pride, he has ended 12 of his 16 victories early against no defeats and has proved to be a whirlwind in the professional ring so far.
‘Kedou’ as he is known in the ring, knows just what it takes to qualify for the Olympic Games, having represented his country twice, in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, winning the silver medal in the latter. He also won silver at the European Boxing Championships in Pula, Croatia in 2004as well as a bronze and gold in the European Union Boxing Championships in 2004 and 2007 respectively.
Since turning professional in 2009, Djelkhir has impressively already managed to win titles at two different weights, having captured the vacant France featherweight title as well as the WBO inter-continental super bantamweight belt. His fighting style sees him ducking low, bobbing and weaving before detonating shots from a low, crouched stance where he gains momentum to deliver full force blows.
Having handled some of the bigger and more experienced professionals, the Frenchman should have no problem imposing his power in the 56kg category in the APB and has all the credentials to become a firm fan favourite.
