Career highlight: Bronze medalist – World Youth Boxing Championships Agadir 2011
Middleweight Michel Tavares bears the hefty ring persona ‘Le Cubain’ (The Cuban) and it is clear to see from his boxing talent why he has had this complimentary moniker bestowed upon him.
The French southpaw and multiple national champion has a wealth of experience to draw upon, fighting over a longer round setup and having amassed 21 appearances in the World Series of Boxing, first for Paris United and latterly Italia Thunder.
Tavares, of Cape Verdean descent, has two bronze medals in major competition at youth level winning his first at the European Union Junior Championships in Rome in 2006 and another at the World Youth Boxing Championships five years later in Agadir, Morocco.
Tavares should be comfortable in the APB format as he already has a very professional style as well as being a furious puncher and highly competitive athlete. He likes to keep his distance in the ring, luring opponents in and will look to enforce his bludgeoning blows twinned with his blistering hand speed.
