Career highlight: Beijing 2008 Olympian
It would be fitting to say that Onur Sipal is a bona fide student of the sport. It would also be quite literal as the Turkish boxer has enjoyed his most notable success in the ring at university level. He won a silver medal at the World University Boxing Championships in 2010 whilst campaigning as a lightweight and also won a bronze three years later in the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia.
At world level, Sipal competed in the 2007 AIBA World Boxing Championships, where he reached the quarter-finals and also qualified for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The Turk has also competed in the WSB for the Istanbulls, so will be familiar with the kind of format employed by the APB.
Sturdily built and well-conditioned, Sipal is a strong boxer who mixes up his attacks to the body and head and is a very competent counter puncher.
The muscular former middleweight will represent a significant danger to the talented pack of fighters in the APB welterweight division.
