Career highlight: Gold medalist – Asian Boxing Championships Amman 2013
Oybek Mamazulunov has recently emerged as something of standout talent on the international stage after dazzling successes in 2013 that marked a breakthrough year in the sport for the Uzbek tough man.
The burly swarmer is the current Asian champion, after winning gold at the 2013 Asian Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan. He followed up the win by claiming bronze later on that year in the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Almaty.
A fine display of sportsmanship in the latter, which saw him reach the quarter finals of the tournament, truly announced the powerfully built Mamazulunov to the rest of the boxing world.
In the ring, the light-heavyweight likes to attack opponents from a low, crouching style which gives him leverage to unleash savage looping hooks from the outside.
He is just as effective boxing from mid-distance, a position from where he can generate full power punch combinations to the body and head.
Mamazulunov will come to APB on the crest of a wave of confidence from last year’s achievements and will be looking to continue his stunning successes at the expense of the rest of the hopefuls in the 81kg category.
