Career highlight: Silver medalist – AIBA World Boxing Championships Almaty 2013
Robson Conceição knows just what it takes to qualify for the Olympic Games, having had the honor of representing his native Brazil at Beijing 2008, a feat he will be looking to replicate this time by qualifying through the AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) tournament for Rio 2016.
The silver medalist at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara and at the 2013 AIBA World Boxing Championships, he also knows what it takes to box over the longer rounds format, having won all three of his bouts in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) to maintain an impressive unblemished record in the competition for franchise Italia Thunder. The Brazilian also possesses thunderous punching power and lightning reactions to boot.
A real student of the sport and particularly of the art of defense, Conceição has an uncanny ability to read the intricacies of a boxing match, methodically outworking an opponent by boxing on the outside behind a tight defense fused with effortless fluidity of movement.
Conceição’s ring intelligence and sheer boxing skill will stand the lightweight in good stead in the APB tournament.
